Koge

KOGE series is part two of the BODIES series, continuing our exploration of the Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetic. In this six-piece collection, a butoh dancer is explored from the inside. The focus is on how the physical body and its systems work together, and how that is connected to what we see during a dance performance. The sculptures were hand-built by Anna Aristova and fired in a wood-firing anagama-style smokeless kiln with an inverted flame bouri box called Sasukenei, which was built by master Masakazu Kusakabe in Portugal in 2015.
